Parakite Course
on the Dune du Pilat

Parakite Moustache Flare qui gonfle sur la dune du Pilat

FlyParakite returns for a second season on the Dune du Pilat, in collaboration with Waggas School, offering Parakite courses designed for different pilot profiles.

Two training levels are available:

– a Beginner Course, for paragliding pilots new to strong-wind handling, as well as newcomers wishing to discover wind-powered flight through Parakite

– a Progression Course, for pilots already confident with their wing control and familiar with active handling in the wind.

FlyParakite is also actively involved in developing the teaching framework and official recognition of Parakite within the Fédération Française de Vol Libre (FFVL).

The first Parakite course in France

Beginner Parakite Course Discover, Understand, Progress

The Beginner Parakite Course is a solid first step into the discipline.

It is open to paragliding pilots new to strong-wind conditions, as well as people from related sports (kitesurfing, skydiving, etc.) wishing to discover wind-powered flight through Parakite.

This training follows a progressive approach: mastering the wing on the ground is the foundation of smooth and controlled flying.

Learning to read the wind, feel the wing’s energy, and adopt the right gestures and posture builds lasting skills before moving into flight phases.

📆 Spread over five days, the course includes three practical sessions scheduled according to the best wind conditions. Each session combines ground exercises, theoretical input, and first low-altitude flights focused on control, precision, and short takeoff and landing sequences — without aiming for altitude.

The goal is to build a technical toolbox and solid reflexes to progress with confidence.

This course is not designed to provide immediate autonomy, but rather to offer a safe and structured foundation for full Parakite flight.

Progression Parakite Course Precision, Energy, Autonomy

The Progression Parakite Course is designed for paragliding or Parakite pilots already confident with their wing in the wind — capable of controlled launches, forward to backward switch, wing stabilization at the edge of the window, and precise ground movements.

It is particularly suited for pilots who have completed the Beginner Parakite Course or a Waggas School pilotage training, providing them with the solid foundation required to develop a more active and precise piloting style.

The course focuses on fine control close to the ground, energy management, and reading the wind.

Sessions alternate between ground handling, dynamic low-level flights, and precision exercises, all guided by the principles of safety and pleasure in controlled flight

📆 The course includes three practice days, scheduled over five days to take advantage of the best wind conditions.

Video briefings and debriefings, along with targeted theoretical inputs, support a deeper understanding and a personalized progression.

The goal is to reinforce technical skills and develop autonomy, while improving trajectory reading and the ability to identify suitable flying conditions.

Registration is confirmed after a short discussion or video assessment, ensuring a coherent group progression and an adapted learning experience for each pilot.

Course Organization & Booking

The Parakite courses at the Dune du Pilat are organized by FlyParakite, in partnership with the Waggas School, which provides the official framework for instruction on this iconic flying site.

Registrations are made directly through the Waggas School website for the period from April to July.

For the rest of the year, FlyParakite offers itinerant courses in various locations — combining site discovery, technical progression, and the development of autonomy in a wide range of flying environments.
